Shuck Cancer is committed to protecting and restoring our coast. Since 2018, we have proudly partnered with the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) to make sure 100% of our oysters do not go to waste. Since 2018, Shuck Cancer has recycled over 6,000 pounds to CRCL to their oyster shell recycling program. These shells are then used to create man-made reefs to help protect Louisiana’s eroding coastline.
As a full circle effect CRCL’s “reefs create habitat for oysters and other marine life to grow, protecting our coast from erosion, sea-level rise and storm damage while supporting the local seafood industry.” To learn more about the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana’s efforts and how you can volunteer visit there website at crcl.org.
